A Prayer for Bread

Bread for our bodies, for work to be done
    strength and good health, just enough to go on.

Bread for our neighbors, all that may be
    near us enough to be fed in your name.

Bread for the hungry, those with such need,
    from famine, sickness and bondage released.

Bread for the church, afflicted but valiant.
    Spirit and peace, in purpose united.

Bread for my soul, redeemed from the dark.
    Your broken body for my broken heart,
True bread, in this life, just the start.
